Table-2 is transcribed verbatim into gradingPlan: A 85-100% 4.00, B+ 79-84% 3.50, B 72-78% 3.00, C+ 66-71% 2.50, C 60-65% 2.00, D 50-59% 1.00, F below 50% 0.00, with I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawal) and TR (Transfer Credit) all at 0.00 and outside the GPA. This is a SIX-LETTER scale with half-point steps and NO minus grades at all - materially different from the eleven-band HEC pattern - and its bands are unusually wide (B spans seven marks, D spans ten). The same policy states that Greenwich follows the Absolute Grading System, that GPA is total grade points earned divided by total attempted credit hours, that marks are distributed 30% quizzes/assignments/presentations/class participation, 30% mid term and 40% final term, and that the pass percentage is 60% with a C grade. It gives CGPA = sum of (credit hours x GP) / total credit hours and the same formula per semester for SGPA; requires a graduating CGPA of 2.00 for undergraduate and 2.50 for graduate programmes with no outstanding failure; sets first probation when an undergraduate CGPA falls below 1.5 or a graduate CGPA below 2.00, a last probation after that and removal from the faculty thereafter; dismisses outright any student with a 0.00 GPA in the first semester; halves the course load on probation; caps repeats at six courses for an undergraduate degree and three for a Master's; allows repeats only for grade C or lower and substitutes the new grade for the old in the CGPA.

Greenwich's own operative scale is the six-letter Table-2 in the 2026 Examination Policy, which supersedes it for grading purposes.

How grading works at Greenwich University
Greenwich University divides the total grade points you have earned by the total credit hours you attempted: each subject's credit hours are multiplied by the grade points for the letter awarded, those quality points are summed, and divided by the credit hours registered across all semesters. The Karachi university states plainly that it follows the absolute grading system, so your letter depends on your own marks rather than the class curve. What surprises most students is how short the ladder is: Greenwich uses just six graded letters with no minus grades at all, running A at 85-100 for 4.00, B+ at 79-84 for 3.50, B at 72-78 for 3.00, C+ at 66-71 for 2.50, C at 60-65 for 2.00 and D at 50-59 for 1.00.
Because the bands are six or seven marks wide instead of three, a single mark rarely changes your grade here, but the pass line is set high: the examination policy fixes the pass percentage at 60% with a C grade, so a D is a recorded result rather than a comfortable pass. Marks are built from 30% coursework, 30% mid term and 40% final term. The same table applies across the DHA campus schools, including BS Computer Science, BBA and BS Aviation Management, and I, W and TR entries carry no points at all.
Worked example: a full semester on the Greenwich University scale
Here is a complete 15 credit-hour semester scored against the Greenwich University grade points in the table above. The marks are illustrative, but every number after them is calculated the same way the calculator on this page calculates yours.
| Course | Credit hrs | Marks /100 | Grade | Grade point | Quality points |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core course I | 3 | 93 | A | 4.00 | 3 × 4.00 = 12.00 |
| Core course II | 4 | 82 | B+ | 3.50 | 4 × 3.50 = 14.00 |
| Core course III | 3 | 75 | B | 3.00 | 3 × 3.00 = 9.00 |
| Elective | 3 | 69 | C+ | 2.50 | 3 × 2.50 = 7.50 |
| Lab / practical | 2 | 63 | C | 2.00 | 2 × 2.00 = 4.00 |
| Total | 15 | 46.50 |
Step by step
- Convert each course mark to a grade point. Work out each course as a percentage of its total marks, then read the letter off the Greenwich University grading table. 93 out of 100 is 93%, which falls in the A band and is worth 4.00 grade points.
- Multiply each grade point by the course credit hours. Credit hours decide how much each course counts, so multiply to get quality points: 3 × 4.00 = 12.00, 4 × 3.50 = 14.00, 3 × 3.00 = 9.00, 3 × 2.50 = 7.50, 2 × 2.00 = 4.00.
- Add the quality points and the credit hours. Adding the five courses gives 46.50 quality points across 15 credit hours.
- Divide to get the semester GPA. 46.50 ÷ 15 = 3.10, the semester GPA for this term at Greenwich University.
- Fold the semester into your CGPA. If you had already completed 45 credit hours at a CGPA of 3.20, those carry 144.00 quality points. Add this semester and the CGPA becomes (144.00 + 46.50) ÷ (45 + 15) = 3.18.
Notice how the 4-credit course moves the average roughly twice as hard as the 2-credit lab. That credit-hour weighting is the whole reason a GPA is not just the average of your grade points.
Which Greenwich University programmes use this scale?
The same grading plan applies across Greenwich University’s degree programmes, including BS Computer Science, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), BS Aviation Management, BS Banking and Finance and MBA. Credit-hour loads differ by programme (a typical semester runs 15 to 18 credit hours), but the marks-to-grade-point mapping above does not change between them.
